Recollection and Interpretation: Painting the Australian Landscape Dianne Hilyear

- Exhibitions

“My oil paintings reflect the endless forms, moods and changes in the Australian landscape. Painting largely from memory enables me to connect and interpret places from imagined viewpoints at times, leading me to the boundary of abstraction and tangible form. Exhibiting powerful colour and pattern, my landscapes sit between the observed and imagined.”

Dianne has had an extensive career as an art educator for the National Gallery of Victoria and in schools. This combined with travel throughout Australia informs and inspires her painting. Dianne’s art practice is now her full-time occupation.
