The Gasworks Theatre is a flexible performance space with a flat, sprung timber floor and a raked, modular and movable seating system. The venue is particularly suited to productions where intimate contact between the audience and the performers is required. The theatre is fully air-conditioned and is wheelchair accessible.

The modular seating system can enable seating for between 66 and 176 patrons in various configurations.

The venue can also accommodate cabaret seating for up to 50 patrons (around 10 round tables), with or without the seating bank.

The theatre has a lighting grid spanning the entire floor area further enhancing the flexibility of the facility. There is an extensive stock of lighting and sound equipment available to hirers of the space.

Dressing room facilities are also available, and the Studio Theatre can also be hired as additional dressing room space, as a green room, and both the Studio Theatre and Garden Studio can be hired or for rehearsals.

Theatre hirers receive a marketing kit as part of their hire fee which includes a step-by-step guide to promoting your production.

During Melbourne’s major festivals (including the Midsumma Festival , Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Melbourne Fringe Festival), Gasworks partners with theatre hirers to produce a festival season.

The Studio Theatre is an intimate performance space with floorboards and flat rows of moveable seating for up to 60 patrons. It has an industrial ambience and is ideal for a variety of uses including workshops, small productions, seminars, demonstrations, dance classes, rehearsals, readings or as a green room in conjunction with theatre hire.

Floor-level seating may be placed in any configuration in the space, and raked rostra may be hired to create a seating bank.

The Garden Studio is a carpeted space suitable to hire for classes, meetings and rehearsals for up to 20 people. It is commonly used for theatre rehearsals and auditions, exercise and drama classes, meetings, mothers’ groups, playgroups and parties.The studio overlooks Gasworks Park and is heated, and includes loose chairs, running water and access to public toilet facilities.

Exhibitions by established and emerging artists rotate every three weeks in this gallery space, which features white walls, professional track & lighting systems and polished floorboards. A clean, rectangular space measuring 6.7m by 6.1m, the Gallery is perfect for your first or next solo exhibition.

This busy gallery space for community group shows and emerging artists is an open access space that is also used for meetings and functions. The Gasworks Bar and Box Office is located in the Foyer, making it a high traffic area.

The Foyer Gallery features professional track & lighting and reverse cycle heating/cooling systems.

Gasworks Arts Park is a beautiful four hectare oasis in an urban environment. The arts activities are housed in renovated industrial buildings on the fringe of the open space.

The Park is a leash-free exercise area for dogs and is very popular with local people. It also has a playground and barbeques.

The inner city location makes it perfect for parties, picnics and corporate events and it is available for hire for events of this kind, as well as for large-scale events. It’s also a great spot to sit under a tree & read a book.

The Art and Craft Room is suitable for wet or dry activities for up to 15 students. Facilities include easels, drawing boards and a tea and coffee-making area, and the room is suitable for activities including textiles, painting, ceramics, drawing an sculpture.
