Access Spaces: Art & Craft Room
The Art and Craft Room at Gasworks Arts Park is a versatile space suitable for both wet and dry activities, accommodating up to 15 students comfortably, with a maximum capacity of 30. The room is equipped with easels, tables, chairs and a stainless steel kitchenette, making it ideal for a wide range of artistic endeavors such as textiles, painting, ceramics, drawing, and sculpture.
Located on the Richardson Street side of the park, the paths are typically made of gravel or dirt, and gentle gradients leading to the entry.
It provides a spacious area for artistic expression, allowing students to explore their creativity in a comfortable environment.
The Art & Craft Room is available for hire from 7 am to 11 pm, seven days a week, not available public holidays. The rates for booking the space are as follows:
- Hourly rate: $35
- Full Day (8 hours): $250 (including GST)
- Half Day (4 hours): $130 (including GST)
Gasworks Members can enjoy discounted rates, so it is worth inquiring about membership options if applicable.
Please note that if your booking exceeds the maximum capacity of 30 people, it will be classified as an event, and you will need to contact the venue coordinator at venuecoordinator@gasworks.org.au to complete your booking.
FAQs:
1. Size of the room: The Art and Craft Room measures 10 meters by 7 meters, but keep in mind that easels, chairs, and tables line all four walls, reducing the available space to 8 meters by 6 meters.
2. Cost: The room rental fee is $35 per hour, and a $100 refundable room bond is required. We have a half day rate of $130 (4 hours) and fulll day rate of $250 (8 hours). Your setup and pack up time need to included in your hire time.
3. Flooring: The room has a concrete floor, which is suitable for art-related activities.
4. Inclusions: The Art and Craft Room comes with 3 trestle tables, 15 chairs, 15 easels, air conditioning, a toilet and sink, a craft sink, and a kitchen sink.
5. Decorations: You are welcome to decorate the space to suit your event, as long as all decorations are removed at the end of your hire, leaving the room in the same condition as you found it. You are more than welcome to arrange catering with an oustide. Please note we do not have facilities for heating and cooling food.
6. Confimration of Booking: Your booking is confirmed once a signed contract is returned, payment paid in full. You will be then sent the access code for the space, with written confirmation.
7. Alcohol policy: Alcohol consumption is not permitted in the Art and Craft Room.
8. Bathroom facilities: Yes, the Art and Craft Room features a dedicated bathroom for convenience.

10. Public Liability Insurance: If you are inviting general public or a large invitation list to an event held within the Access Spaces, as opposed to a private event with family and friends, you should arrange public liability insurance.
11. Park and BBQ Bookings: Gasworks Arts Park only take bookings for any of our internal spaces. If you require an exclusive space within the park, you will need to contact the City of Port Phillip on 9209 6777 to arrange a permit.
