Gasworks programs rely heavily on the wonderful volunteers who donate their time to have fun, gain experience and work on great community events.

VOLUNTEER USHERS

Gasworks Arts Park is currently offering a number of Volunteer Usher positions that provide valuable experience for those interested in events management, festivals and managing a venue. We are in need of some fabulous individuals to assist with a number of events throughout the year.

Gasworks is run by a small core staff and we proudly offer Interns the opportunity for meaningful participation and skill sharing in the planning and execution of the Fringe Festival and our Gasworks Produced season.

Volunteer Ushers: Gasworks have a number of shows that require volunteer ushers. This is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in a career in the arts, to be able to see some incredible shows and gain experience in the arts industry. Front of House staff for the most part begin, by being a volunteer usher. Ushers are expected to scan tickets on arrival, monitor the audience, notify front of house in the event of an emergency, wear a radio, ensure the cleanliness of the seating bank and generally assist the audience in any way. You are expected to arrive min 45 minutes prior to the show, wear black attire, and have a high level of integrity and commitment.

REGULAR VOLUNTEERS AND STUDENT PLACEMENTS

Placements are available for people looking to contribute to a positive, fun office and to gain experience in arts administration, event coordination, production, marketing, education and visual arts. Shorter term placements can be negotiated to assist the fulfilment of tertiary course requirements for students.

FESTIVALS AND EVENTS

Events at Gasworks could not run without the assistance of our wonderful volunteers, and our busy schedule of events throughout the year require volunteers to undertake a wide variety of roles. We have a list of volunteers who help out on one or two days a year at a major event. Gasworks is always looking for volunteers to help in the office or at an event.

FARMERS MARKETS

Every month, we require volunteers to help us run our BBQ and information stall. It’s a great way to get involved in a fantastic community event. The BBQ is very busy and we need volunteers to help prepare, cook and serve, and some positions also involve money handling.

VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITIONS

Gasworks has three gallery spaces, and we are seeking volunteers to help hang and sit exhibitions in the gallery, as well as offering opportunities to develop skills in programming and mounting exhibitions. Please contact us directly to discuss your needs and how we can work with you.
