Priscilla Jones Café
Country-style home cooking with heart, at our resident cafe Priscilla Jones
Priscilla’s lamingtons were legendary, her hedgehogs were in hot demand, and her lemon slice made every bush walk a special occasion. Her granddaughter, Bronwyn Tomkins, learnt the power of food in bringing people together from an early age. When the chance came to open her own cafe, there was no doubt what the name should be. Priscilla Jones cafe plays homage to a great lady that fed her community with cake and kindness.
From rural Kerang to urban Melbourne, Priscilla Jones prides itself on country-style friendly welcome and a country-style generous slice of cake! Coffees are strong and delicious, keeping busy parents and local business people focused each morning. Servings of hot lunches and beautiful brunches balance the traditional style of nourishing food that Priscilla herself believed in, while keeping up with modern, international Melbourne. After all, you don’t set up a cafe in the world’s most liveable city without updating a thing or do!
Priscilla Jones is open every day, come rain or shine. Pop in for a coffee and brunch on Farmers Market days, pick up a muffin while your children or grandchildren take part in our kid’s holiday programs, or treat the whole family after a visit to the latest free art exhibition in the Angela Robarts-Bird Gallery.
Priscilla Jones knew the value of a loyal pet companion, too. Bronwyn is justifiably proud of her cafes’ constant approval with the local doggies; with pupacinos and doggie treats on offer, water dishes regularly re-filled, and staff always remember a paw they’ve seen before. Whether meeting friends, or taking dogs for an energetic run around Gasworks’ off leash area – all members of your family are welcome in this traditional cafe with a twist.
Priscilla Jones transforms into a lovely event space after hours. great for corporate or family occasions. If you’ve liked the yummy food and friendly welcome on offer, then get in touch with Bron to discuss catering for:
