Gasworks Arts Park has two outstanding visual arts and sculpture studio spaces available in renovated industrial buildings amidst beautiful parklands. Join a community of 15 resident studio artists and enjoy the benefits of a professional studio space on a premier cultural site.

Gasworks Arts Park is located in Albert Park just three kilometres from the CBD, 300 metres from the beach and 400 metres to shops, cafes and the No. 1 tram on Victoria Avenue. Gasworks has 15 resident artists, two theatres, two gallery spaces, a cafe as well as function and workshop spaces.  The venue presents an annual program of festivals and events, including a monthly Farmers Market and a children’s school holiday program. With a diverse program of visual and performing arts in addition to a plethora of community classes, workshops and events, Gasworks Arts Park is a key not-for-profit arts organisation in the City of Port Phillip precinct.

Artists must also be prepared to contribute 30 voluntary hours per year to Gasworks’ public engagement program which includes, but is not limited to, studio open days, studio tours, educational talks, fundraising activities and events, classes, workshops and exhibitions.

About the Visual Arts Studio:

The visual arts studio is in an original building on the perimeter of the park.  The studio is a self contained, subdivided space (60sqm). The studio’s open days are held during the monthly Farmers Market and at other times to be advised.

Features of the studio include:

• Based in the centre of a vibrant, established arts community;
• A secure, stand alone building, with 24 hour access;
• Some built in benches, shelves and a large sink with hot and cold water;
• Concrete floors;
• Good overhead lighting and lots of natural light;
• Access to exhibition facilities and other facilities of Gasworks Arts Park;
• Conditions that may be suitable for a creative partnership (photographers, writers etc); &
• Ample free parking around the park

About the Sculpture Studio:
The sculpture studio is in an original building on the perimeter of the park.  The studio a subdivided space (32sqm) in a building shared with 4 other artists. The studio’s open days are held on the monthly Farmers Market (3^rd Saturday of each month) and at other times to be advised.

The studio is available until 31 December 2014, with the opportunity to apply for a further term which may be granted at the discretion of Gasworks Arts Park. Please note there is a 3 month probationary period.

To this end it is conducting public consultations which offer the opportunity for members of the community to make input and put forward ideas as to how the park can grow and respond to new circumstances.

The next forum will be at the Farmers’ Market on Saturday 17 November. We encourage our members and friends to take this opportunity to participate.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the development of the park in the next ten years.

Gasworks Arts Park is thrilled to announce that the fabulous Gasworks Farmers Market received the Outstanding Farmers Market Award at the 2012 delicious. Produce Awards.

The coveted annual award ceremony was held last night at Stokehouse, Brisbane and was hosted by culinary critic Matt Preston.

Established in 2005, the awards highlight small and artisan producers and a growing interest in sustainability, with nominations doubling this year to 2000.

Gasworks’ Operations and HR Manager Michele Domonkos said the team at Gasworks were delighted to hear the Farmers Market had received the prestigious accolade.

“Everyone at Gasworks is very excited to have our Farmers Market acknowledged at the 2012 delicious. Produce Awards,” she said.

“Our Farmers Market has been running since 2006 and we are very proud of all the stall holders and Gasworks staff who work so hard to make the market run smoothly each month.”

Victorian state judge Paul Wilson praised the Gasworks Farmers Market for its contribution to Victoria’s thriving food and produce industry.

“At Gasworks you see restaurateurs, chefs, bloggers and home cooks all mingling together,” he said.

“This Melbourne market gives exposure to Victoria’s best suppliers all in one arena.”

Ms. Domonkos specifically thanked Gasworks’ Farmers Market Manager Shirley Billing and the Victorian Farmers Market Association.

“Special thanks should also go to Gasworks Farmers Market Manager Shirley Billing and to Miranda and the team at VFMA. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next Farmers Market on Saturday July 21st.”

Gasworks Arts Park has an outstanding ceramics artist studio space available in renovated industrial buildings amidst beautiful parklands. Join a community of 16 resident studio artists and enjoy the benefits of a professional studio space on a premier cultural site.

About the Studio
The ceramics studio is in an original building on the perimeter of the park. The studio is a subdivided space (roughly 14.5sqm), in a building shared with three other artists.  A kiln room, with gas and electric kilns, is adjacent and there is a small display area in the centre of the shared space. The studio’s open days are held during the Farmers Market (3rd Saturday of every month).

Rental is currently $243 per calendar month (inclusive of Waste removal, Power & Gas and GST). The studio is available for a 2 year period in the first instance, with the opportunity to apply for a further term, which will be granted at the discretion of Gasworks Arts Park.
