Jane Flowers

Jane Flowers’ neo-tonalist paintings are identified by a soft-focus, atmospheric aesthetic.
The mystery of the horizon between heaven and earth is often presented from an aerial perspective, with dams as precious jewels.
Serenity of observation is encouraged by seascapes beckoning with the fluidity of water, and the seduction of the far shore.
The work is characterized by simple graphic qualities, perhaps of tree lines, and the minimalism of silhouette which invites a meditative gaze.
The tonal transitions in many of these paintings are quiet in their unfolding, and lock into focus as the fields of muted through to vibrant colour optically shift and resonate.
