Na Djinang Circus Presents

Social Staples

What if you could solve the world’s problems using what’s in the back of your kitchen cupboard? Featuring acrobatics, physical theatre, and aerial performance, Social Staples is a contemporary circus piece that takes a closer look at the expiry date.

Winners of Gasworks Circus Showdown 2017, Na Dijnang Circus are an independent troupe of young, diverse, and experienced acrobats. Social Staples is centred on the functionalities of staple items found in every Australian pantry, drawing parallels to the social politics in Australia. Social Staples is a playful exploration of social issues including distribution of wealth, indigenous identity and culture, and other ‘staple’ aspects of an Australian society.

Directed by Harley Mann, Na Djinang Circus produces contemporary circus by and for young Australians establishing their identity within broader society.
