Gasworks Arts Park Presents

Peter Malatt
Form follows found object : respecting the past and looking to the future

“To work on this building is a pretty much once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It is the best work of two of the most important architects to ever come to Australia. It’s a great responsibility, but it’s also a great privilege.”

Architect Peter Malatt will discuss his involvement in the refurbishment of RMIT’s iconic, soon to be reopened, Capitol Theatre as well as his approach to adaptive reuse for local projects like Albert Park College.

Peter Malatt is a Melbourne-based architect & founding director of Six Degrees, one of Australia’s leading architectural practices. Renowned not only for their engaging and rich designs but equally for maintaining an inventive and sustainable approach to projects large and small. The studio continues to develop ideas about human needs, high and low design, raw materiality, recycling and brutalism within a collective framework.
