Bridging worlds: breathing new life into traditional techniques

“We see Figgoscope Curates objects as anchors connecting our lives with the long tradition of adorning our everyday spaces, of transitioning from the mundane to the timeless.”

Architect Marta Figueiredo is founder of Figgoscope Curates, a Melbourne-based design practice that collaborates with Portuguese artisans. Marta’s practice focuses on integrating time-honoured techniques and materials into contemporary product design, achieving a perfect balance of innovation, exceptional quality and timeless craft.

Following her Product Design Award for the Melbourne Fringe Furniture Awards Marta was interviewed by Manuela Millan, founder of Meanwhile in Melbourne. Check it out here to find out more about Marta’s practice and see some beautiful photographs of her work.

This session is part of Inside Art and Architecture: A series of monthly talks to offer an engaging introduction to the often-hidden processes and worlds behind our built environment and artistic practice. Expand your knowledge of local architectural landmarks, explore sculptural creativity and engage in thought-provoking dialogue.
