Making With Bird
by Miriam Potts

‘Bird’ flew into my front yard three years ago. A rescue bird. Since coming to live here, Bird has focused my attention, leading this creative project. Following Bird’s interests, I investigated other local urban birds and our relations with them. Because Bird loves to greet fellow parrots, I began making artsworks about Cockatoos, Galahs, Corellas and their relationships with local urban evironments. This research expanded to include impacts of urbanisation upon bird lives. Some birds thrive and some are endangered by human changes to environments. This project embraces the joy of sharing local places with many birds, yet this very abundance is also threatened.

Making With Bird is an exhibition featuring digital collages from photograph and hand-coloured monoprints made by Miriam Potts.
