CHERI

Director Stephen Frears (The Queen) reunites with writer Christopher Hampton and Michelle Pfeiffer for the first time since the Academy Award winning Dangerous Liaisons.

Set in the luxurious demi-monde of pre-First World War Paris, CHÉRI is the story of the love affair between the beautiful retired courtesan Léa (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Chéri (Rupert Friend), the son of her old colleague and rival, Mme Peloux (Kathy Bates).

Léa has educated the spoilt and callow boy in the ways of love, but after six years Mme Peloux has secretly arranged a marriage between Chéri and Edmée (Felicity Jones), daughter of another rich courtesan, Marie Laure (Iben Hjejle). As the inevitable moment of parting approaches, Léa and Chéri try to come to terms with their imminent separation, but the roots of their life of ease and pleasure reach deeper than even they imagine and they begin to understand, too late, how much they mean to one another.

Passes are for any session in-season, in Cinemas from July 23.

My Friends, My Loves

MY FRIENDS, MY LOVES

A film by Lorraine Levy

An engaging romantic comedy, My Friends, My Loves is a bubbly spin on the 'odd-couple' set-up. When Mathias (Vincent Lindon) moves from Paris to London’s South Kensington to join his best friend, the divorced Antoine, they decide to establish a new household for their kids by moving in together. They set themselves some ground rules: they will never call on babysitters nor will they ever bring any girlfriends home.

It seems like the perfect solution for two single fathers in their thirties. But in reality life is not so simple, especially when Mathias starts to fall for the beautiful Audrey (Virginie Ledoyen.)

Juggling parental obligations, romantic intrigues and differences of opinion, we are drawn into the colourful world of the French ex-pat enclave in London and the intertwining destinies of its locals. With a nod to the warm humour of screenwriter Richard Curtis (Notting Hill, Love Actually), My Friends, My Loves is tender and light-hearted entertainment.

Passes are valid for previews on Friday 10, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July at Cinema Nova, Rivoli, Palace Como and Palace Brighton Bay Cinemas.
