Michael Sibel usually works with a mix of materials, from stones and resins to metals and wood. He is committed to developing a body of work that can be seen as a whole, encompassing all these materials in new and inventive ways that can speak abstractly about both the figure and geometric landscape. Recently, his explorations have been into searching for the human form within his sculptures.
Michael has a Bachelor of Fine Art with honours from Monash University and is currently undertaking a
Graduate Diploma of Education (University of Melbourne). Michael is an educator and has assisted to build large-scale commission works by artists including Akio Makigawa and Geoffery Bartlett as well as developing his own art practice. |
